Buck McKeon, Mormon Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee Mounts Benghazi Attack

on October 30th, 2012 at 4:05 am

California Republican Howard “Buck” McKeon, chairman of the powerful House Armed Services Committee, has become the third Mormon Congressman to politicize the Benghazi attack to help further Mitt Romney’s presidential ambitions. Joining Raul Labrador and Jason Chaffetz, McKeon has been a regular on Fox News lately trying to take political advantage of the four American deaths in Libya on 9/11.

Despite the U.S. Senate setting a date for hearings on the issue in two weeks, McKeon just can’t  seem to wait. Yesterday, he sent out a letter to the President and demanded immediate answers; McKeon questions military operations in Benghazi attack. It doesn’t take much imagination to wonder why this LDS Saint is so impatient.

McKeon has been pushing the Benghazi controversy from the beginning. On Oct. 16 McKeon phoned into the Laura Ingraham hate radio show where he said the CIA, the State Department, and the Executive Branch were engaged in a “cover-up… worse than Watergate.”  He applauded Ingraham’s vitriolic comments about Hillary Clinton, and stated that U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice should resign.

McKeon is a source for Jennifer Griffin, the Fox News reporter who’s been pushing McKeon’s inaccurate narrative of what went on, while promoting McKeon’s  lies about the CIA.

McKeon is in trouble. His personal finances are in shambles, he’s neck deep in allegations of mortgage fraud, he’s mired in bankruptcy, he’s given his wife special governmental favors, and he’s become known as a flack for special interests, specifically defense contractors. He might get booted out of office next week, so you can imagine why this particular Mormon is so desperate to stick his neck out for Bishop Romney.

1. Failing to listen to intelligence report that “Bin Laden was determined to attack the United States” leads to the worst attack on American soil since Pearl Harbor. George W. Bush

2. Bush and his advisors lying to the American people in order to sell the Iraq War.

3. George Bush dismissing the Geneva Convention prohibiting torture and implementing a policy of “enhanced interrogation”, a legal definition of torture that drags America’s reputation through the mud.

4. Florida and Ohio picking George W. Bush as president in 2004 at a point when his incompetence was on full display.

5. George W. Bush’s tax cuts for the rich which led to 8 years of zero job growth and $10 trillion in the national debt.

6. George W. Bush picking neo-Con Dick Cheney who takes over his presidency and pursues a war agenda designed to benefit his oil friends.

7. President Obama letting right wing extremists control the summer of 2009 when they invaded town hall meetings across the country and made a mockery of the democratic process and the health care issue.

8. Tie: John McCain picking Tea Party extremist Sarah Palin as his running mate in 2008 and Mitt Romney picking Ayn Rand extremist Paul Ryan, a man who wants to voucherize Medicare and redefine rape, in 2012.

9. President Obama thinking he could work with conservatives in Congress who pledged on his inauguration to block everything he wanted to get done.

10. The media failing to vet Mitt Romney’s background allowing a right wing extremist to parade around as a moderate while sending out racist surrogates to do his dirty work.

How the Mormon Church Developed the John Birch Society

on October 27th, 2012 at 9:03 pm

Reed Smoot, Utah senator 1903-1933, and Heber J. Grant, Mormon president/prophet 1918–1945, set a very conservative course for the Mormon Church.

The Mormon Church has always staked out positions among the political far right. In the 1920′s Reed Smoot, the first Mormon senator and the most powerful LDS leader in politics at the time, was good friends with Calvin Coolidge and Herbert Hoover. By passing the Smoot-Hawley tariff bill, Hoover sent America into the Great Depression. The Mormon hierarchy sided with the most reactionary conservatives to oppose FDR and the Democrats trying to pull America out of the economic abyss. Mormon president/prophet Heber J. Grant, “detested the Democrat’s New Deal policies.” (The Mormon Corporate Empire, p.37)

The First Presidency 1945-1951: J. Reuben Clark, George Albert Smith, and David O. McKay. Smith was sick during much of his reign leaving McKay and Clark in power.

Leading up to World War II, Mormon leaders joined with the likes of DuPont, Lindbergh and Henry Ford to keep America out of a war with Nazi-Germany. J. Reuben Clark, Jr. and David O. McKay were counselors to two Mormon presidents, Heber J. Grant and George Albert Smith. Clark and McKay led the charge against communism.

“Throughout the decade McKay remained convinced that Communism was a greater threat that the rising power of Germany.” In 1940 McKay wrote, “Communist rats are working here in the United States and are gnawing at the very vitals of our government..” (David O. McKay and the Rise of Modern Mormonism, p.180)

When Joseph McCarthy went on his anti-communist crusade claiming communists had infested the State Department, his first stop was Salt Lake City, where he flew in and “participated in a Lincoln Day banquet held at the Newhouse Hotel.” Presumably McCarthy met with First Counselor J. Reuben Clark Jr., the staunch anti-communist “whose many years of service in the State Department gave him a broad exposure to world politics.” It was his visit to Utah that McCarthy settled on the number 57 as the number of communists in the State Department.

J. Reuben Clark Jr. is a major figure in John Birch Society lore. He use to tell the story of a secret meeting with powerful New York interests who arranged World War I. Allegedly, Woodrow Wilson was picked to carry out the plan. Sound familiar? Yes, it’s the crazy theory Glenn Beck is spreading, the same theory Robert Welch and the JBS has spread for fifty years. Clark was also a big believer in the idea that God created the U.S. Constitution and the Supreme Court is packed with a bunch of lefties.

In the 1952 election, the Mormon far right sided with Robert Taft (grandson of Mormon apostle Ezra Taft Benson) and, in order to appease his reactionary base, President Eisenhower picked future Mormon president Ezra Taft Benson (grandson to original Ezra Taft Benson) to be his Secretary of Agriculture. It was like bringing a cat into the mouse factory.

Mormon presidents/prophets Gordon B. Hinkley, Ezra Taft Benson and Thomas S. Monson, current LDS head.

Counselor David O. McKay had become one of the leading anti-communists in the country, and Eisenhower’s pick of Benson made him,

“the apostle destined to become McKay’s staunchest ally in the battle… McKay gave his special blessing to Ezra Taft Benson as an opponent of Communism, enabling this strong-willed apostle to propagate his ultra-right-wing views among church members– views that included an endorsement of the John Birch Society.”  (David O. McKay and the Rise of Modern Mormonism p.281)

When McCarthy accused high ranking officials in the Army, the White House and every other great American institution of being communists he was using Ezra Taft Benson as his inside source. Benson was an extreme right winger, typical of the Mormon hierarchy, who had come to the conclusion that Eisenhower, and most everyone else in his cabinet, were a bunch of communist sympathizers. Benson’s connections with Robert Welch helped generate the communist hysteria that solidified into the rabidly dangerous John Birch Society.

Welch was a nobody, a candy maker, a salesman, a political wannabe before Mormon leaders chose him to be their attack dog, a role played today by Mormon convert Glenn Beck. Welch’s book, “Acheson and MacArthur”  was based on insights gleaned from Benson, a man who hated Secretary of State Dean Acheson with a passion. Welch’s book “The Politician” was based on Benson’s communist allegations and crazy opinions. When he was picked by Eisenhower, Ezra Taft Benson was an apostle in the Mormon Church, and so he had to keep a distance between himself and the subversive JBS. Nonetheless, his radical views on race, communism, women, the Constitution, and the economy are identical to the John Birch Society’s. Not surprisingly, they are the same views espoused by Tea Party, a JBS front group led by JBS spokesman Beck. And that’s just the half of it.

The John Birch Society’s entire structure is modeled on the Mormon Church.
The authoritarianism of the JBS, the top-down leadership and command structure, the pyramid design where grassroots stakes, or chapters as they are called in the JBS, are expected to obediently carry out their instructions, all of which are Mormon ideas. Mormon founder Joseph Smith set up this kind of structure “which is invested the authority to administer the entire LDS empire.” (In Mormon Circles, p.24) With the help of Ezra Taft Benson, Welch set up the JBS exactly the same way. Benson was an autocrat in the worst sense of the word, stating that the leader is always right and that followers must practice ”blind obedience.” (The Mormon Corporate Empire, p.197) Even the twelve leaders that Welch surrounded himself are modeled on Mormondom’s twelve apostles.

The trait that alienated more people from the JBS than any other (mainly because few are aware of its violent history) is the group’s secretive behavior and paranoid accusations of conspiracy. This is straight from the Mormon Church, a church with a history of secret armies, secret signs and passwords, and which has groups that “function as secret police to ferret out dissenters among Mormon ranks.” (In Mormon Circles, p.34)

Willard Skousen's crazy JBS theories form the foundation of the Tea Party.

Welch and Benson were big admirers of anti-communist lunatic Willard Cleon Skousen, a man being touted today by Mitt Romney and Glenn Beck. Skousen was a Mormon and had a huge influence on the JBS. He was also the “rightwing ultra” police chief of Salt Lake City, a racist and anti-Semite “truther”. The mayor of Salt Lake City once said Skousen “operated the police department like a Gestapo.” (The Backlash, p.44) Benson was a close friend of Skousen and wrote the preface to “Prophecy and Modern Times.” Both “devoted long public lives to preaching doomsday and warning about global conspiracies.. views that are shared by the JBS.” David O. McKay recommended that all Mormon Church members read Skousen’s, “The Naked Communist,” when he was president/prophet of the LDS, (The Mormon Corporate Empire, p.152) a book first published by Publisher’s Press, which was then run by Thomas S. Monson, who is the Mormon president/prophet today. Monson was Benson’s counselor in the First Presidency.

Skousen was professor of religion at BYU and founder of Utah’s JBS. (In Mormon Circles, p.170) He went on to develop the Freeman Institute a dangerous “linchpin” connection to the JBS and other right wing groups. In 1980, at the dedication of the Freemen Institute’s headquarters, the head of the John Birch Society, Larry P. McDonald, appeared with Orrin Hatch and J. Willard Marriott. (The Mormon Corporate Empire, p.155) Orrin Hatch is one of Mitt Romney’s closest political allies, and Romney was named after J. Willard Marriott, so it’s little wonder that JBS fanatic Skousen is a personal hero to the Republican candidate for president. Back in 2007, an Iowa radio host talked to Romney about Skousen;

“You and I share a common affection for the late Cleon Skousen,” the radio host says. The former governor agrees, affirming Skousen was his professor and when the radio host professes his fondness for Skousen’s book The Making of America, while he acknowledges he hasn’t read it, Mitt quickly says “That’s worth reading.”   Read more at the National Review

The John Birch Society and the Mormon Church have cleared up their bad image to a remarkable degree, mainly by hiding what they actually believe. Very few will admit to being members of the JBS, but when a person believes exactly the same things as they do, it’s not hard to discern. Whether the American public can figure out the deceptions of Mitt Romney before the election remains to be seen.

Maybe, Just Maybe…

on October 27th, 2012 at 11:09 am

  • Maybe a candidate who takes the advice and money of billionaires and right wing nuts really will give them the keys to the White House.
  • Maybe a super-rich aristocrat pushing policies that benefit the rich and punish the poor really is trying to divide America.
  • Maybe a guy who wears brownface, feels Mexicans mistreated him, and opposes the Dream Act actually does hate Latinos.
  • Maybe someone who wants $8 trillion in new spending really does want to bankrupt the country.
  • Maybe someone who calls themselves a severe conservative really is one.
  • Maybe someone who ties his dog to top of his car and jokes about global warming really doesn’t care about God’s creations.
  • Maybe someone who picks a running mate who wants to end Social Security and Medicare wants to end Social Security and Medicare.
  • Maybe someone who hires racist surrogates like Donald Trump and John Sununu really is a racist himself.
  • Maybe someone who picks Paul Ryan and endorses Richard Mourdock really does agree with their definitions of rape.
  • Maybe someone whose faith teaches that the American government will fall apart and be rescued by the Mormon Church really does believe his role is to destroy America.

Maybe Mitt Romney is exactly who he appears to be.

Ezra Taft Benson’s Influence on the John Birch Society, and Mitt Romney

on October 26th, 2012 at 11:00 pm

Ezra Taft Benson was the president/prophet of the Mormon Church from 1985-1994. He rose to national prominence when President Dwight Eisenhower picked him to be U.S. Secretary of Agriculture in 1953. Benson was a fanatical anti-communist who eventually came to the conclusion that President Eisenhower was a danger to the country. Benson was part of the secret cabal that reported on the President and spread the rumors that he was a communist sympathizer. Benson helped Robert Welch form the John Birch Society.

In a letter to F.B.I. director J. Edgar Hoover, Benson wrote, ”In my study of the [communist] conspiracy, which I am sure is weak compared with your own, the consequences of Mr. Eisenhower’s actions in dealing with the communists have been tragic.” Most of Benson’s thoughts are revealed in Welch’s book, The Politician, a screed that marginalized the JBS as part of the paranoid lunatic fringe.

The Mormon Church continues to try and cover up Benson’s involvement with the JBS, but there can be no doubt Benson was a critical member.

On May 17, 1965, Ezra Taft Benson wrote to Hoover with a plea. “Word has come to me, not yet fully confirmed, that some of our liberal ‘soft-on-communist’ groups are planning to put pressure on you to come out with a statement against the John Birch Society.” He urged Hoover not to do so. “It is my conviction that this organization is the most effective non-church group in America against creeping socialism and godless communism,” Benson wrote.   Read more

Benson was such an important part of the John Birch Society that in 1966 Welch designed a ten year plan with the objective that Benson would become President of the United States in 1976. Segregationist Strom Thurmond would be his vice-president. (Birchism Was My Business, Gerald Schomp, 1970, p.159)

As president/prophet/omnipotent leader of the Mormon Church, Benson would have been Mitt Romney’s unquestioned leader from 1985-1994, so it behooves us to examine what he was requiring of his dedicated servants.

Benson subscribed to all the crazy paranoid ideas of the JBS, which isn’t surprising since he was behind many of them. He believed communists had infiltrated all levels of government, and President Eisenhower was controlled by his superior, his brother Milton. He believed that liberals and progressives were a danger to the country and that any government involvement in the economy was dangerous socialism.

Benson also subscribed to the usual crazy anti-Semitic JBS theories. “A number of ultra conservatives, including   Benson and his close friend, W. Cleon Skousen, devoted long public lives to  preaching doomsday and warning about global conspiracies…” (The Backlash, Will Bunch, p.44)

Like most Mormons, Benson was a racist and a fierce segregationist. He said, “the so-called civil rights movement as it exists today is used as a Communist  program for revolution in America.” Benson created Mormondom’s Mutual Improvement Association and preached that women should stay at home. (In Mormon Circles, James Coates, p.90) Benson’s son Reed headed the D.C. lobbying arm for the John Birch Society. Before that, he was the coordinator for Utah’s JBS.

If Mitt Romney’s infallible leader was part of the John Birch Society, wouldn’t that make him a member as well?

Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney Did Nothing To Prevent the Murder of Catholic Priest Placed In His Custody

on October 26th, 2012 at 7:25 pm

Catholic priest John Geoghan was killed in 2003 when Governor Mitt Romney failed to provide for his protection. Inexplicably, Romney prison officials put him in same cell with violent killer.

Scandal engulfed Mitt Romney’s first year as governor of Masachusetts when defrocked Catholic priest John Geoghan was murdered while in prison. Geoghan was serving a 9-10 year sentence for child molestation.

Geoghan was beaten and strangled Aug. 23 in his cell in a maximum-security protective custody unit at Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center. Authorities say he was killed by Joseph L. Druce, a convicted killer. Geoghan was transferred to Souza-Baranowski in April from a minimum-security protective unit at MCI-Concord, where his lawyers allege that prison guards harassed him so severely, even defecating on his bed, that the former priest welcomed the move.   Read more at The Boston Globe

Why Romney allowed the Catholic priest to be placed in the same cell with a self-proclaimed white supremacist serving a life sentence for killing a gay man is unknown at this time.

Romney officials had to know that murderer Joseph L. Druce hated gays.

“The Boston Globe reported that Druce’s father, Dana Smiledge, said: “I can’t understand why they would put a guy who would kill a sex offender in a cell with a sex offender.” Leslie Walker, a lawyer and the executive director of a private non-profit group providing legal services for indigent prisoners, who included Geoghan, said it was “absolutely predictable” that the former priest would be at risk. “They failed miserably. He was a frail old man and he should have been kept safe,” Mr Walker said.   Read more

There is no doubt that John Geoghan was a reprehensible person, but did he deserve to be “stomped to death?” Of course not. The decision by Mitt Romney not to secure the priest’s safety and to treat him with such disrespect is shocking. Additionally, Romney tried to whitewash his administrations incomprehensible actions that led to the murder. Four months later, the public was still being kept in the dark.

When Governor Mitt Romney named an outside panel to investigate the savage jailhouse killing of convicted child molester John Geoghan, the public had every reason to believe that the findings would be made public. Or not. Over the weekend came word that the panel’s report, already a month overdue, may fail to tell the whole story.  Read more

It took until Feb. 3, 2004 before the final report on the matter was issued.

The inquiry, by a three-member panel appointed by the state public safety secretary, found that guards “unduly harassed and physically abused” Mr. Geoghan at one prison and that he was repeatedly written up in “overzealous and unwarranted” disciplinary reports. Those reports were in turn used to classify Mr. Geoghan, a frail 68, as more dangerous than he was and to transfer him wrongly to a maximum-security prison, the investigation found.   Read more

It’s troublesome that Mitt Romney shirked any personal responsibility for the priest’s murder. This was a high profile case, the Boston priest-abuse scandal went worldwide. It is unconscionable that he would allow his prison guards to harass and abuse the Catholic priest placed in his care.  It is unconscionable that Mitt Romney would allow the elderly priest to be moved into the cell of killer. It is reprehensible that after the priest’s murder, Mitt Romney tried to evade all responsibility and passed the blame to those below him.

The Characteristics of Cults

on October 26th, 2012 at 10:16 am

While Mormons like to say they’re no crazier than other religions, it’s apparent that when you actually compare them, Mormons have them beat by a mile. Mormons like to shine the light at other religions when they’re questioned, and traditional religions do believe in some pretty outrageous things, but they are distinguished from cults in very significant ways. Judge for yourself. Below is a list of the characteristics of cults. While groups like Catholics, Protestants, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus and Jews share a few of these characteristics, Mormons fit into every single one.

  1. They demand your money.
  2. They make you wear a costume/uniform.
  3. They outcast those who don’t believe everything they say.
  4. They sing work songs.
  5. They worship in secret temples.
  6. They control what you eat and drink.
  7. There’s a rigid hierarchy of control.
  8. They separate families.
  9. They believe in preposterous things.
  10. Lying to outsiders is approved.
  11. Outsiders are not to be trusted.
  12. They require unquestioned obedience.
  13. They gang up on those faltering.
  14. There are groups set up to help people trying to escape.
  15. They talk of the end of the world.
  16. Leaders have many wives.
  17. They have secret rituals and bar outsiders.
  18. They hide their true intent.
  19. They treat women badly and take away their rights.
  20. They discourage questions about their doctrines and philosophy.
  21. There is one leader with unquestionable authority.
  22. They forbid dissent.
  23. Must sever contact with family and friends who are not a part of the group.
  24. Their way is the only acceptable way.
  25. Wacky ideas about things like outer space.
  26. Secrecy, secrecy, secrecy all important.
  27. They talk the same, look the same, and act the same.

This post is a work in progress and I’m certainly open to competing ideas. I believe it’s critical that sane people don’t fall for dangerous deceptions and aren’t intimidated by cult enforcers quick to call people religious bigots if they ask tough questions.

I once had a neighbor who gathered a harem, preached about the apocalypse, and became an omnipotent leader. He eventually moved to Waco and started collecting guns… Trust me, I know a cult when I see one and it’s an open and shut case when it comes to Mormonism.

I welcome your feedback.  BaracksBackers@gmail.com

The Republican Party Has Been Fully Taken Over By the John Birch Society

on October 26th, 2012 at 2:33 am

First, the Koch Brothers took over the extremist John Birch Society, then they took over the Republican Party.

With the nomination of Mitt Romney, the Republican Party has been completely taken over by the John Birch Society. In this post, I will detail what the John Birch Society is, and why it’s so dangerous to the future of the country.

The JBS is a violent extremist group led by right wing racists. It pushes paranoid theories that are anti-Semitic and dangerous. It wages secret wars against liberals and progressives. It is the Klan in business suits.

Arising from the National Association of Manufacturers, the JBS is a pro-business, anti-labor group that labels any interference in the free market as socialism. It seeks to destroy government, eliminate taxes and gut regulations, all in the name of anti-Communism.

Here’s what they believe; the U.N. wants one-world goverment. The Jews control the banks and want to destroy America. The Civil Rights movement is a communist plot. Environmental regulations, unions, and health care laws are all part of a communist plot. Communism was a Jewish plot. Only the elite should vote. You can read more about the their positions on the JBS website, but it will tell you nothing about the real John Birch Society. The website is the sanitized, public version and bears no resemblance to the real John Birch Society.

The JBS is secret, probably the most secret organization in the country. First rule of JBS, don’t talk about JBS. The JBS garnered such a bad reputation early on that members decided it was better to hide their membership. Hardly anyone will claim they are a member today, but as you will see, it is jammed chock full of the top names in Republican politics. The JBS has taken over the Republican Party.

The John Birch Society emerged during the Cold War as the most radical anti-communist group in the country. Robert Welch was its leader, the spokesman for business leaders across the country. Fred Koch was one of it’s founders and most powerful members. His four sons, the Koch Brothers, have picked up where their father left off. They currently exert massive control over the Republican Party. Paul Ryan has risen on their backs. Mitt Romney is beholden to them. The Koch Brother’s agenda is the same as the JBS on every issue. They are extreme and dangerous.

The JBS is arranged like a pyramid with all control emanating from the top. Thousands of secret cells are at the bottom with 10-20 members each, all oblivious to the other’s existence. These cells are designed to influence their communities at the grassroots level. When an order comes down, members are expected to obey. Obedience is essential, the all-knowing, dynamic leader is an essential aspect of the group’s philosophy.

Fox News has become the John Birch Society channel. Talk radio is one of the JBS’s most effective weapons. Glenn Beck is an open advocate, while broadcasters like Sean Hannity try to disguise their membership. Catholics make up much of the membership rolls of the JBS, with Mormons close behind. The Tea Party is a JBS front group. Front groups are big with the JBS.

Here’s their history:

  • 1958-1964 Membership explodes. Barry Goldwater becomes first JBS candidate for president. The Young Republicans become infested with JBS.
  • 1965-1972 Membership declines and members go undercover as JBS joins forces with George Wallace to fight desegregation.
  • 1973-1980 JBS members organize New Right coalition, joining forces with anti-abortion, anti-busing, Christian coalition. Reagan an ally.
  • 1980-1992 After Welch dies, Koch Brothers take over forming new grassroots groups, numerous think tanks, and funding universities that support their libertarian views.
  • 1992-2000 JBS defeats HillaryCare and brings us Newt Gingrich’s Contract with America, Republicans take over Congress. CNBC becomes the JBS businessman’s dream channel.
  • 2000-2008 JBS targets state laws and governor’s offices, Fox News emerges as JBS mouthpiece. Supreme Court taken over by JBS-friendly justices.
  • 2009-2011 JBS Tea Party emerges days after President Obama takes office. JBS organizes astroturf demonstrations  against health care, co-sponsors C-PAC. JBS takes over House.
  • 2012 Republicans nominate first ticket where both president and vice-president nominee are Birchers.

Evidence That Coptic Christians Helped Pull Down the American Flag in Cairo

on October 26th, 2012 at 1:25 am

Coptic Christians joined Muslims in protests at the American embassy in Egypt.

Most people are unaware that Christians were part of the 9/11 anti-American demonstrations at the U.S. embassy in Egypt when the American flag was pulled own.

“Despite the growing fears among expatriate Egyptian Coptic Christians in the United States over the potential response by Muslims in Egypt toward the Christian minority, those in the country, especially the youth, are joining forces with their fellow Muslims in protests against an anti-Islam film… Christians in Egypt have shown their solidarity with their Muslim brothers and sisters, organizing a protest on Wednesday against the film, a sign that most Christians in Egypt do not support the extremism being spouted by those who helped bring forward this film. “This won’t stop until the US government apologizes and charges these men with hate crimes, because that is what they are. We are Egyptians and we are all in this together,” added Farid as he waved in the next group of protesters heading to throw stones at the police, who return with volleys of tear gas and more rocks in what is becoming a cyclical violent affair.”   Read more at Bikyamasr

According to the Maspero Youth Union – a group of young Coptic Christians who had been instrumental in delivering information to the world following the military’s massacre of Christians in October 2011 in front of the state television building, or Maspero – would protest the film by an Israeli-American “filmmaker.” According to the statement posted on their Facebook page, the group condemned “all sorts of contempt or disdain against any religion, as well as to the sowing of sedition between people who embrace different religions.” The Maspero youth said they would head to the US Embassy on Wednesday evening to hold a vigil “to protest against the film that insults Islam and the Prophet Mohamed.”   Read more at Bikyamasr

Seeing that the protests were ignited by an anti-Muslim video produced in Southern California by right-wing Christians, it’s easy to imagine that the attack on the flag was orchestrated as well.
